**This tutorial can be used to install Eclipse in any Ubuntu version.**
Basically there are two methods to install eclipse IDE in Ubuntu.
1. Using Ubuntu Software Center
2. Download Eclipse IDE package and then install manually (personally recommended)
Personally I prefer to use the second method. Because If you chose the first method and if you need to install Eclipse IDE on multiple Ubuntu machines, You will have to download Eclipse IDE on each and every machine. That will cost bandwith as well as time. Therefore, in this tutorial I’m only going to show the second method.
In order to do this first you need to make sure that you have Java installed. To check that you can type
in the terminal and it will give you the current java version installed on your computer. If you do not have Java installed on your computer please follow Install JDK on Ubuntu tutorial in order to install Java.
